Fighter AircraftThe Gloster Javelin was a twin jet delta wing all-weather interceptor aircraft of the Royal Air Force. First introduced in 1956, it was used to defend the United Kingdom against high flying Soviet bombers. The Javelin was equipped with Airborne Interception radar and was equipped with anti-aircraft missiles. The aircraft was replaced by more modern supersonic designs in the 1960s, but continued to serve in Fighter Command throughout the 1960s, a period dominated by the Cold War.
